In my previous jobs I've always had a problem with bosses that just didn't care about their employees. Everyone was underpaid and there really wasn't anything we could do about it. If we went to them to ask for a raise, they told us to take a hike. Maybe that's why I bounced from one job to another for such a long time. It's hard to try to do a good job when you know the boss would replace you in a second, no matter how hard you work or how good you do your job.
Once I started working for Cana Selfors I changed my tune. From the very first day I felt like something was different. Rather than being indifferent, Cana showed me some respect and listened to what I had to say about my job. She actually allowed me to have some input over the position I was working. I'd definitely never had that before, so I really wasn't sure how to take it. After a while, I learned that's how it was going to be all the time. For once I got some respect for being dedicated to my job. I soon learned she was different in another way. Professionalism is something I've always found lacking in my bosses. It seemed like they always expected their employees to maintain a level of professionalism, but they were above that rule. They came and went as they pleased, and never followed the rules the rest of us had to. Cana Selfors has maintained the utmost respect and professionalism in everything she does. Even behind closed doors she has been warm but professional.
I've stuck with my job a while now, mainly because it feels like I've found my place. I love working for a boss that treats me like a human. She respects me for the job I do, and I always feel like I can speak up and say something if it needs to be said. One other thing is that I've never had to ask for a raise. When I deserved one, I got it, no questions asked. It feels great to work for such a fulfilling job, and I'm thankful I finally got such a great boss.
